PODSUMOWANIE 2008: DAVE NADA

Ladies and Gents - Dave Nada!

Hi I'm Dave Nada, a DJ/producer from the wonderful cities of Baltimore and Washington DC. Also, I currently do Nadastrom with my partner Matt Nordstrom. I try not to dwell on the negatives in life, so I'll brief you all on what were some of the highlights for me in 2008. From amazing people/artists to music and places around the world, here's what went down in '08, in no particular order....

1) Nadastrom is born - Last winter saw the demise of a weekly party called Trap that me and Matt Nordstrom did. It was epic. Every week we blasted house, techno, club and bass. From classics to nu, we ran it tough and loud. Basically to the point where the club owner was shook and decided to kill the party. Because our party was taken away, we then decided to work on tracks instead. Sharing wierd ideas for songs and trying to out drink each other in the studio. After many empty Heiniken mini-kegs, we produced a few tracks that caught Switch's attention. Next thing you know we're putting out our debut EP on his Dubsided label. We threw out 2 bootleg remixes of Estelle's "American Boy" and Lil Wayne's "A Milli" to the internet world and hoped it would get some love. Good news, it did! Even Kanye West gave us some props. Our EP dropped this past fall and we've been touring heavily since to promote it and now currently working on a dozen remix projects and our follow up EP for Dubsided.

2) Winter Music Conference - This is where things got really interesting! This was my first experience in Miami and it practically changed my life. I opened my eyes to minimal techno (6am with Dubfire), I joined the AM Only roster with Tittsworth, DJ Craze, Klever, Treasure Fingers, etc, I destroyed a hotel room party with my Unruly Records family, and made some productive moves without completely losing my life, haha.

3) Signapore with Craze - I spent 2 days flying and traveling halfway across the world with the best dj in the world DJ Craze, only to get kicked out of the club I DJed at. Apparently the club managers weren't too happy with how I party and accused me of being on drugs and breaking equipment. ok, for the record, i WAS pretty drunk, but i DID NOT do any drugs or break anything (except for my ass, haha). anyhow, that's the last time I stage dive with two bottles of liquor!

4) My Crew Be Unruly - This was the historic Unruly/Senari party that went down this past summer in Baltimore at the home of Baltimore Club music, The Paradox. The line up was unbeatable: K-Swift (r.i.p.), Diplo, Dave Nada, Tittsworth, Stretch Armstrong, Emynd & Bo, DJ Excel, King Tutt, DJ Class, Say Wut, Blaqstarr, Will Roc, Dirty South Joe, DJ Sega, and everyone in club music that matters. The night was magical and people from all over the country came to party with Baltimore. The music went on until 5am with me and Titts closing it out. Also, this was also the last time K-Swift djed at her resident spot before passing away. If there ever was a low point in 2008 it was when she died. She's heavily missed.

4) Stereosonic Music Festival - I spent 3 weeks in Australia for this festival, running around the country with Devlin & Darko of Spankrock, Crookers, Acid Jacks, Mowgli, DJ Funk, Tommy Sunshine, Ajax, DJ Hell, Vitalic, Headman, Mr. Maaqs, Sneaky Soundsystem, and Booka Shade. The fact that I'm still alive and standing says a lot. Haha. Probably the best tour I've ever been a part off. Thanks to On The Fly and the wonderful people who supported me in Sydney, Newcastle, Melbourne, Perth, Adalaide, and Brisbane.

5) Music - So many amazing artists and music came out strong this year. Here are ones that did it for me, to name a few.... Tittsworth, Dubfire, Switch, Riva Starr, Jokers of the Scene, Santogold, Bird Peterson, The Death Set, HiJack, Top Billin, Eli Escobar, Nic Fanciulli, Format B, Sis, Herve, Sinden, Loco Dice, Johnny D, Nacho Lovers, Buraka Som Sistema, Diplo, Bart B More, Drop The lime, Ninjasonik, Scottie B, Sega, Say Wut, King Tutt, Brick Bandits, Rob Threezy, Flying Lotus, Nouveau Riche DC, DJ Craze, Klever, Emynd & Bo, Mad Decent, Fool's Gold, Made To Play, Warehouse, Dubsided, Lee Mortimer, Jesse Rose, Fake Blood, and motherfucking BLAQSTARR. i could go on forever, seriously.

...So that's about it. I have a million stories to tell from 2008. I can't wait to see what 2009 has in store! Thanks and love
